Ship Structures Engineer

The Structural Design Department (SDD) is responsible for the structural design of ship and offshore structures.

Position

He/she is, as member of the structural design team, responsible for the design and structural analysis of floating offshore structures like ships or semi-submersble hulls and jack-up units. This includes preparation of specifications, design calculations and analysis reports. Part of the work is interfacing with other disciplines on layout and wave induced loads on the structures.

Profile

BSc or MSc degree in naval architecture or offshore engineering, preferably with a couple of years work experience. Graduates with excellent study results are also welcome to apply. Study subjects and work experience must show a clear interest in ship structural design. Knowledge of Finite Element software (e.g. FEMAP/ NASTRAN) and Mathcad as well as classification society software and rules are advantages.

Above-mentioned vacancy requires the following qualifications:

A pro-active approach; taking initiative; problem solving and creative thinking; professional communication in English (verbal and written); conversant with MS Office applications; willingness to travel; team player.
